Windmill Foods Flitwick Ltd started fifteen years ago by Kevin Harradine and Adrian Venn specialising in supplying fresh dairy products to the wholesale, retail and dairy trade. Joining forces with Robert Harrison at Crow Hill Farm, Wilden, Beds, enabled them to produce from the farm – becoming registered ‘Soil Association Approved’ Organic suppliers.
The dairy now processes in excess of 60,000 litres of milk, cream and yogurt per day. Currently supplying a nationwide chain of coffee shops, National Health Service, Hotels and Schools, & Colleges and general public. Also major suppliers to Asian sweet and other manufacturers.
Organic milk has more nutrients than non-organic milk that average 68% richer in health-promoting omega 3 fatty acids. It also has a favourable ratio of omega 6 to omega 3.
The enhanced nutritional benefit of organic milk is due to the cows’ organic and more natural diet, which is high in fresh grass, forage and clover.
